How Skycrane was created.

Over one year ago a close friend of mine and I formed a small, but high paced video production company- Picture This Digital Video Productions.

Early on we realized, that to achieve the exciting shots that we had envisioned, we were going to need a camera jib or boom that just hasn't been invented yet.

We needed a boom that was -

• able to rotate 360 degrees on its mount.
• lightweight, but tough.
• fully fluid, but very easy to handle.
• easy to rig and extremely portable.
• safe enough to swing around a 10 pound camera from 8 feet away, within a closed, confined space.

After searching the market, we found that there weren't any camera booms that could do this and still meet our criteria for performance and affordability. So we did what American's do when we simply can't find what we need, we just invent it.

Many learning curves later, what finally developed into the Skycrane mini DV camera boom, was a tool we couldn't now live without. The Skycrane will open up new, unlimited possibilities in film making creativity.
